Gel, Pomade or Soap? How To Tame Your Eyebrows

Gel, Pomade or Soap? How To Tame Your Eyebrows

Brow trends come and go. From the ultra thin brows of the 2000’s to the feathered brow trend of the 2010’s, it’s hard to predict what will come next. Whether you go for a more natural brow or a bolder look, wax and/or thread for a more manicured appearance or decide that your brows are beautiful au natural, here are 3 products to test out that will get your eyebrows to do what you want.

Eyebrow Pomade

Dip Brown Pomade $18

Eyebrow pomade, more famously the Dip Brow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills launched in 2014 and quickly become a cult fav. This one pomade changed the game for every girl and cosmetic competitors to up their game in the category of eyebrows products. This one very product had me, a sparse eyebrows having girl, and even the fullest eyebrows girls like my sister constantly replenishing this product. Fast forward five years and it’s still the #1 choice for eyebrow pomades but what do you actually now about pomades? Probably not enough, so let me explain why pomades are so amazing.

First off pomades are classic. Before ABH launched theirs this product was commonly used in hair salons and more specifically on men and women who wanted a slick and/or polished looks. Think The Temptations and The Isley Brothers. As far as appearance goes, pomades can either appear see through and clear like a gel with a thick and sticky texture OR it is an off white colored cream that is waxy and pliable. Both color types have a medium hold formula that can get greasy towards the end of the day. However, pomades enable hair to be tamed perfectly into place once applied. Which leads me to eyebrow gel…

Eyebrow Gel

Brow Gel $12

There are three types of brow gel. There is the clear formula and then there is the tinted formula and then there is the growth stimulating formula.

The clear gel formula is see through therefore you can apply this to your eyebrows without worrying if you will need to clean up the brows with concealer because tint may have gotten on your skin. This type is ideal for girls who have medium to full brows that do not need much work. It is also ideal for girls who are on the go and only have time shower, brush their teeth, hair, eyebrows and apply lip balm.

A tinted brow gel formula is for those who need a little more umph AND it is also ideal for full glam makeup looks. For those who are needed the umph and full glam I suggest starting the brows with a precise eyebrow pencil to create the shape. Next fill in in sparse hairs with a tinted pomade then finish off the eyebrow with a tinted brow gel. The tinted formula will set the brow in place and the tint will give off an airbrushed type of look.

Another great thing I like about eyebrow gel is all of the options that have become available. Some stimulate the hair follicles to increase hair growth, a handful have oils and vitamins to keep the skin smooth and soft and then there are the ones that are hypoallergenic and don’t clog the pores (my personal favorite).

Soap

Brow Silk $28

Have you guys seen the mini tutorials all over Instagram with people using soap to set their eyebrows in place? It’s so trendy that Iconic London has a soap and toothbrush kit for $28. The packaging is super sleek and very attractive however some girls are opting out of that and sticking with they products already in their bathroom.

Basically, the girls are taking either a toothbrush or a densely packed spoolie, rubbing it on a dry bar of soap then brushing it through the hairs. You can tell that it definitely sets the eyebrows into place but I do wonder what would happen if it rained outside… Will the eyebrows be soapy and full of suds or will they still be in perfect place question? Best way to find out is to give it a try.

Now that I have shared with you options for grooming your eyebrows, which one will be you favorite; Pomade, gel or soap?

Comment below and tell us which one you currently use and which one you are going to try.
