The Fall Fashion Rainbow - The Darker Palette We All Love
Walking into the fall season from summer can be an enjoyable, gradual shift into chillier weather but with a bulkier wardrobe.
With the shift in seasons and less daylight, it feels like walking from a room brightened with fluorescent lights, into a pitch-black night - with no street lights. You need a minute to adjust to the darkness and chill of it all, but once you do, no one dare flip the lights on. Reflective of this change in climate is our wardrobe and fashion choices. The materials, the layers, and the silhouettes we wear start to take a primarily functional role, with vanity and beauty coming in second place.
In place of all that, there is still beauty to be found in these seasons and the wardrobe that accompanies them. I love how the clothing we see in the storefronts often echo and mimic the changing colors of our outdoor environment. One could say that these seasons are an inverted version of the rainbow. Like the sunrise, sunset, and leaves, the darker, richer and beautiful colors of seasons transitioning are mimicked on sweaters, dresses, and coats that we weren’t thinking of wearing during the summer. Of course, I love a bright pink sweater or neon-colored leggings peeking under a dress - but there’s truly nothing like rich colors evoke that evoke the feeling of warmth. I could talk about this forever but here’s my take on what shades I love to see and rock for fall and winter.
BURGUNDY
I never get tired of seeing burgundy. For lipstick colors, on clothes, coats, shoes, etc.. It is a super sultry, enticing color and can set a distinct mood instantly.

PUMPKIN
The color of the famous seasonal vegetable is a no-brainer. We all will be wearing lots of shades of orange.

MUSTARD
Any other time of year I wouldn’t go for mustard, but its part of the fall spectrum. The once green leaves are now this deep shade of yellow or orange, and I just want to be a part of that. Don’t you?

EMERALD
This jewel-toned shade is very inviting. It is the color of evergreen trees that can withstand winter’s chilling winds and freezing temperatures This color is definitely a breath of fresh air.

NAVY BLUE
Oh, my beloved navy blue. Once the color of those horrid uniforms I hated to wear to school, is now the color of elegance, subtle glam, and refined chic.

These days we rarely even hear this vegetable talked about wholesomely, but in this instance, the reference is 100% pure. The deep purple color of this vegetable is divine and regal and looks amazing on brown skin.
