Simone Biles is Officially the World’s Most Decorated Gymnast
Whether you’re avid gymnastics fan or a social media savvy person on top of the latest news, you’ve probably heard about Simone Biles KILLING the game.
As of October 13, Biles is the most decorated gymnast in the history of World Championships, winning 25 medals throughout her career.
According to the official Olympics website, the record-breaking win came after Biles won gold on both the vault and balance beam sections Saturday night (October 12), boosting her medal count to 24 and surpassing Belarusian gymnast Vitaly Scherbo’s previously intact record.
During his career, Scherbo earned 23 medals, which made him the world’s most decorated gymnast—until Saturday.
But, Biles did not stop there.
On Sunday, she earned her 25th medal after taking gold in the Artistic Gymnastics portion of the 2019 FIG World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.
Here is the clip of Biles’ victorious floor routine:
Biles currently has 19 world titles and 25 medals. What’s even more beautiful is that she is not the most decorated female gymnast or the most decorated U.S. gymnast or the media’s favorite: the most decorated Black gymnast.
Nope, she broke the record for the most medals earned by ANY gymnast. She did that.
Check out what her acrobat boyfriend Stacey Ervin Jr had to say about Biles’ groundbreaking win:
Let them know Stacey, let them know.
The future will only get brighter for Biles. She is only 22 years old, and she’s continually showing everyone what she’s got.
And, we’ll be here on the sidelines cheering her on every step of the way. Cheers to #BlackGirlMagic and #BlackExcellence.
