Makeup Hacks That Will Save You Money
Makeup. What can I say about the never-ending and steady evolving beauty industry? Every time you turn on the television, open a social media app or walk down the aisles of your local store there is makeup. There is makeup even in the most random places like Barnes and Noble. With so many makeup products out there, one would think that you would need to spend a fortune on getting every product for every part of your face and that is wrong. What you actually need are a few products that can work in multiple ways.
Eyeliner

Eyeliner is one of those products that put eyebrow pencils and lip liners on the map. The thing about eyeliner is that not only can you use it line your eyes but you can also use it to fill in your eyebrows and also use it as a lip liner. I tend to still use eyeliner for all 3 but of course, I alternate the colors depending on the look that I am going for as well as the longevity. BTW, brands do offer waterproof kohl eyeliner. The type of eyeliner that is perfect for all 3 is a kohl liner. Kohl liners are smooth, pigmented and soft.
Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is most commonly used on the eyes however you can definitely use it as a blush, highlighter, bronzer, eyebrow powder and even a lip color (if you crush it and mix it with a gloss or cream). Because eyeshadow colors range from one end of the color spectrum to the other, you can save money by purchasing a palette that offers multiple colors a selection of finishes such as matte, shimmer, press pigments and foils. All of these different types of finishes will allow you to use them in different ways. Make sure that when you do purchase a palette that it is made a higher quality so you won’t have to return it.
Mascara

Who doesn’t love a good mascara? One that extends the length of lashes, coats the hair with natural or vibrant colors, locks hair in place and covers gray hair. Before eyebrow tinting gel and temporary gray hair cover-up came on the market there was mascara. In the late ’90s and early 2000’s we had the same products but they were packaged differently so now thanks to marketers, eyebrow gels, mascara, temporary gray hair cover-up, and eyebrow tinting products are all pretty much the same (although formulated to be waterproof or regular, and some without animal byproducts) but priced differently. When it comes to choosing a mascara for multiple uses I suggest staying within your price range and decide from there.
Foundations

Foundations are on the rise due to the brown skin individuals wanting brands to become more “inclusive”. “Inclusive” is what they got but it is the Minority-owned cosmetic brands that are offering so many different ‘true to skin’ colors and also multiple uses for foundations.
When it comes to those multiple uses, foundations are also concealers, eyeshadow primers, and color correctors. Morphe launched foundations and concealers that included reds and even purples. I say this and back this because I have used and seen makeup artists use foundations as base makeup aka foundation, under-eye and uneven skin correctors aka concealers or color correctors and as eyeshadow primers aka concealers (smaller portions of finishes of foundations).
Foundations come in a variety of forms such as creams, liquids, sticks, and crayons as well as finishes such as natural, matte, semi-matte which should be a big hint for makeup lovers. Brands themselves show you (in commercials) how to use them for multiple areas of your face.
